Thailand!

Hello! I don't have any pics to show everyone how gorgeous Koh Phangan is yet, but man oh man I just wanted to say that it is!! I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas wherever they are. It was a bit odd being in Bangkok on Xmas Day, where it's the same as any other day, but really cool nonetheless. I don't even know how I'm gonna blog about everything. That's why I won't 'til I'm back in cold, dreary Korea (although there are definitely *some* things I miss about it). For now...should I go lie on the white sandy beach, or the pool overlooking it? Cocktails? Pad Thai? Spring rolls? heh..ok I'm done being a jerk. Happy Christmas everyone! Missing you from Thailand~

Lotte World: Christmas on Acid

This weekend we went to Lotte World, Seoul's amazing indoor/outdoor theme park. There was a lot to do at this beast, and in about 5 hours we barely scratched the surface. We all thought we were gonna die on one terrible, horrible ride, but other than that good times were had by all!

Here we are standing in the outdoor area. It had a lot of rides I wanted to try, but below freezing temperatures and long lines weren't really conducive to that. We did heckle the shit out of some line-cutters though. Heh. They deserved it.

I want to go back in the spring and ride in a flamingo boat!

Inside there was a crazy Christmas parade going on, complete with snowflake motorcycles, pointsetta outfits, giant angels, santa (duh), fireworks, ballerinas, and about a million other festive things all happening at once. It wasn't overwhelming at all.

They even had a huge ice rink! Next time, I swear..

Getting Excited for Thailand

AHH!! I'm leaving for Thailand in one week!!

Here's what's going down:
12/24 Leave Korea, get to Bangkok around 10:30pm
12/25 Christmas in Bangkok!! Eat an obscene amount of food & see Bangkok sights.
12/26 Go to our island destination: Koh Phangan, where we will be staying in our own beachfront bungalow
12/27~31 Do island stuff: snorkeling, elephant riding, jungle trekking, visiting Nicole on Koh Tao (one hour away by ferry), and just enjoy being there!
12/31 NEW YEARS!
1/1 Recover from New Years
1/2 Travel back to Bangkok
1/3 Return to Seoul and back to work on the 4th

I'm incredibly excited for this trip. I've been wanting to go to Thailand since I decided to move to Asia and, hey, it's actually happening really soon! Also, OMG the food! Can't wait to get Pad Thai, curry, and spring rolls off the street for like a cent. YUM. And um...90 degree weather?! It's really gonna be okay by me. Gonna come back tan & awesome!

R U Hungry 4 Marshmallows?

So this is the funniest thing I've seen all day. Makes me kinda hungry, except...not. Oh Japan, I do love you so. Lately I've been watching some old Koda vids & getting back into the J-Pop spirit. I forgot that there isn't only K-Pop in the world. And yea, it's cute and all, but I miss the risqué raciness of Ms. Kumi in 'Hot Stuff'. Sometimes Korean stars' incessant winking, posing, and half-assed dancing gets a little old. I mean, it'll never get that old, but you know what I mean.

So here's that crazy Japanese game show about eating marshmallows. Don't try this at home?

And, since we are talking about overly cute, sweet Korean songs (and marshmallows), here's a thematically appropriate song by someone named IU.

Oh, Korea.

PURE EMOTION NSFW

Don't let the typical K-pop I post fool you. When it's not insanely happy/cute, K-pop can be extremely depressing/emotional. This post is dedicated to my favorite heart-wrenching Korean beats. You don't even need to understand what they're saying to feel the emotions going on here.

Exhibit A: "Wedding Dress' by Tae Yang (member of Big Bang). Oh god forbidden love!!

Exhibit B: 'You and I' by Park Bom (from 2NE1). This is just effing sad. But cute at the same time.

Exhibit C: Big Bang classic 'Haru Haru'. PURE EMOTION I CAN'T EVEN HANDLE IT RIGHT NOW.
