Anywho, the highlight of this trip to Phangan has definitely been riding my own motorbike for the first time. I'd always been a bit intimidated by a) just plain staying upright; b) driving on the left-hand side of the road; and c) basically asking for some sort of horrendous injury. Well, nothing horrendous has happened...yet. I was surprised by how quickly I got the hang of riding the bike. It seemed that starting off was the hardest part, and once I got going it was easy to stay mobile.

I love the freedom that comes with the bike. Rather than paying 200 baht (6 bucks) for a round-trip into town by taxi, I can pay the same price for a full 24 hours use of the bike. Pretty good! I don't know all the ins and outs of the island very well myself, but the other day Jayne led us to an elephant "safari" place where we got to feed and pet some elephants. There's something about being able to ride up on my motorbike to some elephants, pet them, and then go on my way, which is pretty freakin cool. No tour needed; just ride, baby, ride!

Cassie's lifelong dream to play with an elephant is fulfilled!

Well hello there, Mr. Elephant.

Other than some animal excitement, I've pretty much just been chilling out by the pool, becoming increasingly brown. I love it! This Saturday is the Full Moon Party, a monthly beach party that's known to be quite crazy. I was there for New Years' 2010, but seeing as it's now low season, I'm curious as to how this time will compare. Will check in again soon!
