Northward Bound!

Hiya, well I thought I'd post a little update since I'm currently stuck at Koh Samui airport for the next couple of hours. We all had an absolutely great time on Koh Phangan, as it was the first time in about 2 months of non-stop action that we got to sit and relax a while. We stayed at Haad Son for 10 days and, although some things weren't quite as great as the last time Jayne and I stayed (the food, motorbike availability, screaming toddler, etc), the rooms were still nice and comfortable, and we enjoyed plenty of pool time. Then there was the Full Moon Party, which was crazy as usual. I think we all got a little belligerent that night; some more than others...

Here we are with our first buckets, still looking decent.

Checking out a bit of fire dancing...luckily I managed to stay away from all forms of fire entertainment that night, although I admit I was tempted to try both the fire jump rope and fire blowing. The amount of people we've seen the past few days with mild to serious burns all over their bodies has not made me regret my decision.

The result, and let me tell you, I followed through with that.

We all, of course, felt wonderful the next day and were psyched to have a day off before leaving the island. Today's flight from Koh Samui (a bigger island next to Phangan) was supposed to take off at 6:00 am, so we took the ferry yesterday to be ready to leave bright and early this morning. We're headed north to Chiang Mai, Thailand's 2nd biggest city and "cultural capital". I've never been there so I'm really excited to see what's supposed to be one of Thailand's most beautiful cities. Also, we plan on taking a 2-day cooking course where I'll get to learn the ins and outs of Thai curries, spring rolls, fish soufflés, and all sorts of other deliciousness. Believe me, I look forward to sharing my skills when I get home. If you're lucky, you just might get an authentic Thai meal prepared by a new master chef in the making... Well, you'll at least get some food out of my attempt to show off! I can't wait to get there and get my cook on. Now let's just get this plane delay over with and I can start my journey to culinary heaven.
